Blueberry bagels are fun and easy to make. These bagels taste like they are fresh from the bakery. But why would you go to the bakery, when you can make these amazing bagels at home? This blueberry bagel recipe has changed my life. I no longer go to the bagel shops or buy store bought bagels. There’s joy that comes from baking food from scratch and I love knowing exactly what’s in my bagels. These bagels are also a good source of protein! What’s better than that?
Find a flat surface to work on.
Step Six: Sprinkle flour on a clean flat surface, such as a countertop.
Step Seven: Take the dough ball out of the bowl and continue to knead it on the flat surface.
Step Eight: Roll dough in a ball.
Step Nine: Use a knife and cut the dough into four even pieces.
Step Ten: Take one piece of dough and roll it on the flat surface. Roll the dough into a thick rope. Take a knife and cut half way into the rope all the way down the rope, so it creates a pocket. Insert the blueberries into the pocket all the way down the rope. Seal the rope back up by pinching together the pocket sides and rolling it. Once the dough is back into a rope, pinch together the ends to make a circle. Repeat this step for each of the four pieces of dough.
Step Eleven: Make your egg wash for the bagels. Crack one egg into a small bowl and add 2 teaspoons of water. Whisk together mixture with a fork or a mini whisk.
Step Twelve: Dip a baking brush into the egg wash and brush the bagels with the mixture. The egg wash will give the bagels a beautiful golden brown color.
Step Thirteen: Transfer the bagels onto a baking sheet or a sprayed pan. I prefer to use baking sheets.
Step Fourteen: Bake the bagels in the oven at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
