This Cinnamon Raisin Bagel recipe tastes amazing! I love the cinnamon marbling on the inside of the bagel. It’s like a work of art on its own! I absolutely love making homemade bagels. A common problem with going to bakeries or buying store bought bagels is that they may not be fresh. So I enjoy making bagels at home.
It also saves a lot of money to make homemade bagels. Who doesn’t like saving money? I can’t stop raving about how much I enjoy making these bagels. There’s nothing better than making bagels at home. You get the added benefit of knowing what is in the bagel and you can eat them fresh out of the oven! I also like knowing these bagels are a great source of protein. These bagels don’t taste like the average flavorless protein bagels, they taste like they came right out of the bakery.
Cinnamon Raisin Bagel Recipe
Step one: Add 1 1/2 cups of flour in a mixing bowl.
Step two: Add 1 1/2 cups of plain greek yogurt to the bowl.
Step three: Add one tablespoon of baking powder to the bowl.
Step Four: Add 3/4 teaspoon of salt. (If you don’t have a 3/4 teaspoon, add three 1/4 teaspoons.)
Step Five: Start mixing the dough together and knead the dough with your hands. If the dough gets too sticky, sprinkle a little flour on your hands. Continue to knead the dough until it comes together in a ball.
Find a flat surface to work on.
Step Six: Sprinkle flour on a clean flat surface, such as a countertop.
Step Seven: Take the dough ball out of the bowl and continue to knead it on the flat surface.
Step Eight: Roll dough in a ball.
Step Nine: Use a knife and cut the dough into four even pieces.
Step Ten: Take one piece of dough and flatten it out with your hands like a pancake. Sprinkle cinnamon over the dough. and press down raisins into the dough. Then on a flat surface roll up the dough just like a fruit roll up. Then continue rolling the dough into a thick rope. Then pinch together the ends to make a circle. Repeat this step for each of the four pieces of dough. (This will create the beautiful marbling on the inside of the bagel.)
Step Eleven: Make your egg wash for the bagels. Crack one egg into a small bowl and add 2 teaspoons of water. Whisk together mixture with a fork or a mini whisk.
Step Twelve: Dip a baking brush into the egg wash and brush the bagels with the mixture. The egg wash will give the bagels a beautiful golden brown color.
Step Thirteen: Transfer the bagels onto a baking sheet or a sprayed pan. I prefer to use baking sheets.
Step Fourteen: Bake the bagels in the oven at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
Add your favorite cream cheese and enjoy!
